THANKFUL THURSDAY

The People Who Bring the Folding Chairs

Good morning, Compass friends! šŸ§šŸ¤

You know those people?

The ones who show up before you even realize you need help?

They don’t need an invitation engraved in gold.

They don’t need recognition.

They don’t even need you to explain everything that’s happening.

They just see what needs doing.

And do it.

Sometimes they bring food.

Sometimes they bring tools.

Sometimes they bring a folding chair because they noticed you didn’t have enough places for everybody to sit.

And sometimes they bring absolutely nothing except themselves.

Which turns out to be exactly what you needed.

I love people like that.

Probably because I’m usually the person trying to organize everything, fix everything, and make sure nobody has to worry about anything.

Which sounds wonderful.

Until you realize you’ve accidentally volunteered yourself to carry the entire circus.

Including the tent.

And possibly the elephants. šŸ˜‚

🧭 Compass Heading

Love often looks like someone quietly sharing the load.

I’ve been thinking about the difference between people who offer help and people who simply show up ready to help.

Both are wonderful.

But there’s something especially meaningful about someone who notices what needs doing without waiting to be asked.

The friend who stays to clean up.

The family member who takes care of something before it becomes another task.

The coworker who sees the problem and steps toward it.

The person who sends a message just to check on you.

They may never know how much their small acts of kindness matter.

But they matter.

Oh, how they matter.

🧭 Compass Thought

We often celebrate the people standing in the spotlight.

But today I’m especially thankful for the ones carrying the folding chairs.

The quiet helpers.

The steady hands.

The people who understand that love isn’t always something we say.

Sometimes it’s something we carry.

And maybe this week, we can be that person for somebody else.

🧭 Compass Verse

Galatians 6:2 (NASB 1995)

ā€œBear one another’s burdensā€¦ā€

🧭 Compass Prayer

Lord, thank You for the people who make life’s burdens lighter. Bless the quiet helpers, the faithful friends, and those who serve without expecting recognition. Give us grateful hearts that notice their kindness, and willing hands that offer the same love to others. Amen.

Who’s someone in your life who always seems to show up with exactly what’s needed?

Find Your Way Home.
