The Middle Counts Too

Beginnings get balloons. (Even the beginning of her 81st year! 🎂)

Finish lines get photographs.

The middle gets…

laundry. 😂

The middle is where the excitement has worn off but the thing still needs tending.

It is the loaf halfway through bulk fermentation.

The garden after planting but before harvest.

The business after launch when there are still approximately nine hundred little things to figure out. 🤪🤪🤪 Currently in this phase..🤣

The middle rarely looks impressive.

But goodness, it matters.

Most of our lives are not lived at beginnings or finish lines.

They are lived right here—in the ordinary middle where we keep showing up, keep learning, keep loving people and keep doing the next faithful thing.

Do not mistake ordinary progress for no progress.

The middle is not dead space between the important parts.

The middle is where roots deepen, skills grow and faithfulness becomes a habit.

You do not have to make today dramatic for today to matter.

Lord, help me stay faithful in the middle.

When the excitement fades and the finish still feels far away, remind me that ordinary days are not wasted days.

Strengthen what You are growing in me while I keep showing up.

Amen.

Beginnings are exciting. Endings are satisfying. But the middle is where much of the becoming happens.
