Welcome to The Twisted Compass
A Place for the Heart, Home & Table
Come on in.
The kitchen may be a little flour-dusted, there is probably something botanical steeping in a jar, and at least one idea has wandered off in a direction no one expected—but you are welcome here. 😂
The Twisted Compass is a gathering place for good food, gentle faith, handcrafted goods, old-fashioned skills, and the everyday practices that help a home feel like home.
Not a perfect home.
A lived-in one.
The kind where supper occasionally runs late, the sourdough has opinions, people stay longer than expected, and there is always room to pull up another chair.
What You’ll Find Along the Way
Around the Compass, you’ll find:
- Clean, deeply flavorful recipes made for real kitchens and real people
- Comfort food with a little better-for-you wisdom tucked inside
- Sourdough adventures, kitchen lessons, and recipes worth passing down
- Handcrafted tallow goods, botanical blends, and simple apothecary traditions
- Stories about faith, family, hospitality, and noticing the gifts hidden in ordinary days
- Creative projects, field notes, seasonal gatherings, and whatever else follows us home
Some days we may gather around a bowl.
Other days we may make a balm, bake a loaf, wander a market, rescue leftovers, or learn something our grandmothers probably already knew.
We believe old wisdom still has a place at the modern table—and that nourishing a life involves more than what is on the plate.
Our Compass Bearing
The Twisted Compass is rooted in one simple hope:
To nourish the heart, home, and table.
That means cooking food that cares for the people eating it. Making useful things slowly and thoughtfully. Opening our homes even when they are not magazine-ready. Paying attention to the people God places in front of us. And remembering that a meaningful life is usually built through small, faithful choices.
A shared meal.
A handwritten note.
A loaf passed across the table.
A prayer whispered while stirring the pot.
None of it has to be grand to be sacred.
There Is More Ahead
This little corner is still growing.
There are recipes waiting to become a cookbook, conversations being gathered for the Find Your Way Home podcast, handcrafted goods coming to the Mercantile, and dreams taking shape for a Twisted Compass subscription filled with field notes, insider extras, and other good things we have not even thought up yet.
Around here, one idea tends to invite twelve of its friends. Apparently, they all know where we live. 😂
But every part of it will point toward the same things:
Noticing more.
Loving well.
Gathering often.
Pull Up a Chair
You do not need to have everything figured out before you belong here.
Come for a recipe and stay for the story.
Try an old skill.
Make something with your hands.
Gather someone you love around the table.
Look for God in the ordinary.
And when life leaves you feeling a little turned around, may this be a place that gently points you toward what matters most.
“And above all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.”
—Colossians 3:14, NASB
